Greek School
Purpose/Mission Statement: The combined Churches of the Annunciation and Sts. Constantine and Helen offer Greek School – the study of Greek language and culture – to the children of the community. Two curriculums are offered: ELINOPHONA – for the student who speaks Greek at home and has a command of the Greek language; and ANGLOPHONA – for the student whose first language in the home is English and is learning Greek as a second language.
Time Commitment: Classes meet once a week for 2 hours on Monday or Tuesday nights from 5:15 – 7:15 p.m. Classes alternate every other year at The Annunciation and Sts. Constantine and Helen. This year classes are at Sts. Constantine and Helen (2005-2006).
Membership: Students should be 4 years of age by the start date of class.
Activities:
March 25th Program: The entire Greek School participates with patriotic songs and hymns along with dances, poems and skits on the “Dual Holiday” of the Annunciation and Greek Independence Day.
We also celebrate “Όχι Day” (October 28th), Christmas, and The Three Hierarchs (January 30th), with smaller programs. The children recite and read poems and sing songs about these holidays.
